This week’s Saturday Special is the Walking Dead Survival Cooking Blog. I stumbled upon this blog through some reposts on Twitter last year. I fell in love with it right away. The profile states:
“There are no more McLunches or Runs for the Border, and the only thing left that’s Finger Lickin’ Good is you. We all need to learn how to cook together. And I’m just the woman for the job.”
I know nothing about the blog’s creator, save for her Twitter name. But she has never ceased to impress me with her devotion to the Walking Dead and delicious recipes that she creates all season long.
The Walking Dead Survival Cooking Blog celebrates all that the television series has to offer, and has in itself created a mythos for fans to participate in. You can visit the blog and keep up with all the goings on with the survivors of the southeast USA. The blog’s creator highlights various characters and plot lines, and presents you with recipes influenced by the series. Each recipe consists of ingredients that can be found in pantries (hopefully your group will be able to stock up on your next supply run!)
I have personally tried a few of the recipes and can say from first-hand experience that they easy to make and delicious to eat! And, although I’m not scavenging for items to cook with, I can say that they are affordable to make as well. We’ve enjoyed sampling these recipes on Sunday evenings before the Walking Dead airs. It’s a tradition that you can start in your own home with your Z-Team.

Check out the blog, try out the recipes, and impress your friends with your new found gourmet skills!
