Welcome!

As an adult living with Cystic Fibrosis (CF), I like to find new ways to raise awareness within my community and to support the efforts of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
The purpose of this site is to educate people about CF and to provide support to those affected by this life-threatening genetic disease through local fundraising events and various weblinks.

And visit the website of our brand new non-profit organization, the NOBLE ROSES FOUNDATION

Come-See-Me Festival 2011

Congratulations on another successful year of fun and fundraising for CF and the Rock Hill Parks Foundation! Check back in February for information on the 2011 Frog Float details and where/how you can adopt your frog!

Thank you for taking the time to visit. I hope to see you at one of our upcoming events! Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments.

In 2006, our family started the first ever GREAT STRIDES walk at Cherry Park in Rock Hill. That year, the walk raised over $6,300. In 2007, over $10,000. In 2008, $20,000. And in 2009, despite the economy, over $10,000 again. This year, the Charlotte, NC Chapter of the CFF took over organizing the walk (phew!) so we can enjoy participating for a change! Our new team, TEAM NOBLE ROSES, walked in Myrtle Beach, SC on May 15 with family. Donations can be made by visiting my Great Strides Team Page.

If you are asking what Roses have to do with Cystic Fibrosis
Read the story below for the answer.

"65 Roses" is what little children suffering from Cystic Fibrosis call their disease. As the following story illustrates, the words are much easier for children to pronounce....

Mary G. Weiss became a volunteer for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in 1965 after learning that her three little boys had Cystic Fibrosis. Her duty was to call every civic club, social and service organization seeking financial support for CF research. Mary's four year old son, Richard, listened closely to his mother as she made each call. After several calls, Richard came into the room and told his mom, "I know what you are working for."

Mary was dumbstruck because Richard did not know what she was doing, nor did he know he had Cystic Fibrosis. With some trepidation, Mary posed the question back to Richard, "What am I working for, Richard?"

"You are working for '65 Roses'," he answered so sweetly. Mary was speechless. She went over to him and tenderly pressed his tiny body to hers. He could not see the tears running down Mary's cheeks as she stammered, "Yes, Richard, I'm working for '65 Roses'."
